Sasanof spuds, Kanga dry - drilling news from Oz

Western Gas have spudded the Sasanof-1 well on the NW Shelf of Australia. This is a prolific gas basin with large gas reserves, both on production and yet to be developed.

Sasanof holds a possible 7.2 Tcf GIIP near to the stranded 2 Tcf of the Equus project discoveries. Could success at Sasanof see the Equus project progress to development?

We discuss this deepwater well, drilled by the Valaris MS-1 semisubmersible, providing a regional context, looking at possible export routes with multiple LNG terminals in the region.

We also briefly cover the Kanga-1 well - a disappointing result near to the North Rankin field. Diamond Offshore's Ocean Apex drilled this well with operator SapuraOMV announcing the results earlier this month.

TROVE Australia NW Shelf contains details of all offshore oil and gas fields and discoveries from the region. With information on over 350 assets, this is the most comprehensive technical subsurface database for the NW Shelf area. We have several other TROVE databases ensuring complete offshore coverage of the Australia. See our coverage map here: https://www.1stsom.com/trove
