Gas in the Eastern Mediterranean fuelling the Cyprus dispute.

This is the first of our TROVE NEWS series where we will be talking about interesting stories from the world of oil and gas that we have found while building our TROVE databases.

In this episode Mike Cooper (Managing Director of 1st Subsurface) takes us through a look at the Eastern Mediterranean. Focusing on an under-reported dispute primarily between Cyprus and Turkey who both claim maritime rights over the same waters and are both drilling in these claimed waters. Tensions are increasing as Turkey steps up its efforts drilling now in blocks already awarded by Cyprus to major operators.

The surrounding waters have had several world class gas discoveries in the last few years including Zohr (Egypt), Leviathan (Israel), Tamar (Israel), Aphrodite (Cyprus) and Glaucus (Cyprus).
